Period Positivity Circle: Empowering the Next Generation
A Community Event Rooted in Education, Celebration & Support
Period Positivity.
Menstruation is a natural, powerful cycle—yet too often, it’s shrouded in shame, misinformation, or secrecy. At Birth Out Loud, I believe in creating a safe, affirming space where young people can learn about their bodies, connect with their intuition, and feel empowered in their menstrual journey.
The Period Positivity Circle is a free, community-based event designed with tweens, caregivers, and families in mind. This gathering is about education, celebration, and open conversation—bringing together birth workers, local business owners, and community members to provide meaningful support.
-
Learning the anatomy & correct terms for the reproductive system.
-
Exploring the phases of the menstrual cycle, physical & emotional changes, and how to track your period.
-
Helping caregivers & parents start informed, open conversations about menstruation at home.
-
Introducing different menstrual products and how to choose what works best.
-
Free access to menstrual products, books, comfortable clothing, and period kits.
-
Involving local artists to share stories, cultural perspectives, and creative activities around menstruation.
-
Encouraging young people to tune into their bodies, trust their cycles, and embrace their intuitive wisdom.
The Bigger Vision: Expanding Into a Program
This event is just the beginning. My goal is to expand the Period Positivity Circle into a full-scale program that continues to offer:
✔ Workshops & Ongoing Education – Teaching young people & caregivers how to navigate puberty, hormones, and self-care.
✔ Menstrual Wellness Kits – Providing free, accessible period products to those in need.
✔ Rites of Passage & Menstrual Ceremonies – Helping families celebrate the first bleed as a sacred milestone.
✔ Advocacy for Period Equity – Working toward breaking the stigma and making menstrual education accessible for all.
